Five members of a family were burnt alive and another was severely injured when the car they were traveling in collided with a truck, overturned and caught fire in Rania area of Kanpur Dehat district on National Highway 2 on Tuesday morning. Pre investigation reveals the truck may have applied the brakes suddenly, and the car ran into it, leading to a leak into fuel tank of the truck, and an immediate blaze. According to the police, Avinash Pandey (45), his wife Meena (40), son Ayush (10) and daughter Arushi (13), brother-in-law Suraj (35) and relative Shivam (30), were on their way to Mumbai from Handia area of Allahabad when their car, rammed into the truck.
