What is too dangerous for women? joining Army? Flying a fighter plane? Going to space station? Naaah!! None of these tasks are left undone by women across the world. They are now no less than the men and knowing this Australian Army opened the doors of its front-line combat for the women of the country.
Australia is planning to remove all gender barriers in its military over the next five years. Military of Oz is opening up positions that had previously been considered too dangerous for women, including front-line combat roles. A minister in Australian parliament conformed this on Tuesday.
After this Australia will be in the list of those nations including Canada and New Zealand where women can work according to their physical and psychological criteria to perform any role they choose. According to Defence minister Stephen Smith “it as ‘a significant cultural change”.
In current time women can serve in more than 90% of the categories in the defence force including the Army, Navy and Air force. Like infantry, artillery and naval clearance diving, there are several roles which are only reserved for men.
