So, are you ready to play in the pouring shower and enjoy the finger licking snacks. Just check out some North Indian street snack recipes to enjoy tasty monsoon safely. Let’ start with chaat that literally means finger licking and that is really finger liking as it is a combination of sweet and sour dips. It can be tangy, spicy, sweet, salty, crunchy and soft all at the same time. It's truly an 'Explosion of Flavors' in your mouth leaving you wanting more! Just follow these easy steps to taste this delicious chaat. Chatpati chaat
Peel the boiled potatoes and mash them while still warm. Now add green chilies, coriander leaves, salt, asafoetida and red chili powder to it and mix well. After mixing all the ingredients divide the mixture into 10-12 portions, shape them into round tikkis and flatten them a bit. Heat a tawa and shallow fry the tikkis in oil on both sides, till golden. Drain onto an absorbent paper. Aloo ki tikki is ready to serve.
Serve chaat in dauna
Serve these tikkis hot with mint-coriander-green chilly chutney and dates tamarind sour chutney and yoghurt. Garnish your aloo tikki with finely chopped onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves. Sprinkle sev for crunchy taste.
Teekhe gupchup(paani puri)Pani Puri or Puchka or Gol Guppa or gupchup , is the best street food. The taste of pani and the varoius fillings vary from region to region. What you have to do is just get a packet of crunchy pooris from market and prepare the water at home.Grind together mint leaves, coriander leaves, and green chilies (also you can add about a inch ginger)in a grinder or hand grinder finely.Mix all the ingredients for making pani along with this green mix, and cool it in refrigerator or add some ice to it. Check for the taste and adjust the flavours as necessary. Grind all the ingredients, along with little water, to make thick chutney. Mix salt n red chilli in potatoes and set aside rest ingredients in separate bowls.
Typical style of serving paani puri
Tap the Puri at the center(on the thin fragile side) lightly to make a small hole in it. Stuff the puri with about 1 tbsp of the various desired fillings. Now add 1 big drop of the Tamarind Chutney. (Those who like only spicy and not sweet). Finally dip filled puri into the chilled pani and there it goes the crisp spicy-sweet puri crushing into your mouth.
Rangeelee bhel Prepare the green and sweet chutneys. Bhel puri is another easy option for all street food lovers . It can be easily prepared in minutes at home without creating any mess in your kitchen. Chop onion, potato, tomato and raw mango finely. Chop coriander leaves and green chillies. Set aside. Mix together puffed rice and sev, salt and chili powder, cumin powder and the mixture of crunchy namkeen . Before serving, mix chutneys to taste, chopped veggies and the murmura (puffed rice) in a bowl.
Serve bhel in paper conesTo serve, put some bhel in individual plates, top with some more sev and chutneys (if desired) and serve immediately. There's no hard n fast rule for making bhel's. If u doesn’t have chutneys, you can skip them. In place of chutney you can also add grated coconut or musturd oil, to give it a unique flavour.
