The then Prince when saw cute girl Pema at family picnic got so impressed and liked her so much that got down on his knees and innocently proposed small 
7years old cute girl Jetsun Pema. He said "when you grow up, if I am single and not married and if you are single and not married, I would like you to be my wife, provided we still feel the same."
Jetsun Pema was very small to understand all this. She was then a commoner; daughter of the pilot and has never dreamt that she will become the queen of the beautiful country of Bhutan.
Physical distances increased as both went abroad for studies but this distance did not affect their relationship. Both of them kept themselves involved studies and good creative work. More far they went closer they came.
Queen has studied at Lawrence School, Sanawar, in Himachal Pradesh and at St Joseph's Convent in Kalimpong, West Bengal. She, pursued part of her studies in London's Regents College, where she developed a keen interest in the arts, and is studying for a degree in international relations. Her future role is likely to be doing charity work.
She is very intelligent and sharp student and love to play basketball. She is an eloquent speaker and a decent person perfectly cut out to be a queen.
King of Bhutan is simple, quiet and intelligent. He always took studies very seriously. After schooling in India and then in US, the king took a degree in political science and economics at Oxford University.
King is solid and reliable. He is so polite and humble that despite of prince of a kingdom when he proposed Pema he never forced her to marry him. Both are so loyal to each other that they have respected and carried their relation seriously for so long and very beautifully tied knot.
